And speaking of Shakespeare
“We few. We happy few. We band of brothers…”
One of my favorite movies, or at least one of my favorites of Shakespeare’s plays put on film, is Kenneth Branagh’s film adaptation of the bard’s play Henry V, which Branagh both starred in and directed, as well as writing the screen adaptation.
And my favorite scene is Henry’s “St. Crispian” speech. This is one of the more arousing speeches ever given, and is probably one that Henry V would have wished he’d actually given. Watching this scene still causes my hair to stand on end. You can watch this scene on YouTube.
This play also provides me with one of my favorite truisms:
Henry V: “All things are ready, if our minds be so.“
Westmoreland: “Perish the man, whose mind is backward now!“
