Analog and Digital
In addition to the Moleskine notebook, more and more I’ve been finding the plain ‘ol 3 x 5 index card to be my friend. A year and a half or so ago I stumbled on the “HipsterPDA” at Merlin Mann’s 43folders.com, and then I found the D*I*Y Planner, an excellent set of templates for printing your own planner. The D*I*Y Planner templates are available in Letter, A4, A5, and my favorite, the HipsterPDA (3×5 card) editions. The D*I*Y templates are now at version 3.0, and include some templates that I thought were missing in previous versions.
As much as I’ve enjoyed using the index card, Hawk Sugano in Japan has really taken its use to the Library of Congress level. Or is that the “overboard” level?
I do still use my Palm Tungsten T3 quite a bit, but no longer for note taking or other writing tasks. I now use it primarily for reading (using eReader, MobiPocket, and Plucker), calender, and contact database. Once in a while I use it for SMS messaging through my Nokia 6620 cellular phone (via a Bluetooth connection). Oh yes, it is also my most-used dictionary. The Merriam-Webster 11th Collegiate Dictionary that I have for eReader seems to be more complete than either of the paper Webster Collegiate dictionaries that I have around the house.
Analog or digital, I’m working to keep it simple.
